Why Chengdu — The Phoenix Cup Connects World-Class Shooting Sport to Sichuan's Heritage

The "Phoenix Cup" International Invitational Shotgun is the first international shooting event with its own independent IP (intellectual property) organised by Sichuan Province. Leveraging Sichuan's rich heritage as a leading centre for the development of shooting talents in China, and inheriting the tenacious spirit of renowned Sichuan-born shooters such as Zhang Shan, the Barcelona Olympic champion, and Lyu Jianlin, the Paris Olympic bronze medalist, the event has filled a gap in Southwest China for top-tier international shotgun shooting competitions.
The event is centered on supporting Olympic preparations and fostering international shooting exchanges as its core objectives, the event not only provides athletes from around the world with a top-tier competitive platform that meets ISSF standards, but also introduces an innovative hosting model integrating "professional competition, public participation, and cultural tourism." A range of accessible activities, such as laser shooting and fun archery, will be available for visitors. Meanwhile, simultaneously link with Bashu cultural and tourism such as Sanxingdui and the Panda Base to create characteristic viewing experiences routes.
Compared to traditional shooting competitions, the Phoenix Cup combines elite competition with public participation. It not only helps the national team gain international competition experience and promote the popularization of shooting sports, but also closely aligns sporting events with urban development and cultural promotion — realising the comprehensive value of "building a brand with competitions, stimulating consumption through competitions, and developing the industry through competitions."
