The 2026 "Phoenix Cup" International Invitational Shotgun will be held from November 18 to 24 at the Sichuan Administration Center of Shooting and Archery Sports in Chengdu, Sichuan. With the core mission of "carrying forward Olympic glory, deepening international exchanges, and revitalizing the shooting cause," the competition will gather top shotgun shooters from around the world to compete on the same stage.
Overseas registration has now been successfully completed. Apart from China, the event has received entries from around 50 international athletes and coaches from 10 countries and regions, including Italy, the Republic of Korea, Greece, and Malaysia etc.
This year's event will bring together a constellation of star athletes, including Greek shooter Efthimios Mitas — world record holder in the Men's Skeet qualification, and gold medalist at both the World Championships and the World Cup; Italian athlete Daniele Resca — 2017 World Championships Men's Trap gold medalist, and Italian athlete Giulia Grassia — double gold medalist of Trap Mixed Team and Trap Women's Team at the 2022 World Championships.
The event has extended a special invitation to Zhang Shan, China's sole Olympic champion in shotgun shooting. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, she won gold in the mixed skeet event, outperforming all male competitors and creating a legendary chapter in the history of shooting.
The event has been officially included in the ISSF annual competition calendar and certified by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). Athletes' results will count towards international ranking points, positioning the competition within the ISSF Category C tier. The "Phoenix Cup International Invitational Shotgun" will be staged biennially, with the aim of establishing an independent international event brand and contributing to the sustained growth and popularization of shotgun shooting sport.
